Industrial Court is established in the State under Section 9 of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Relations Act, 1960. It’s headquarters is in Indore and 4 benches are established in Jabalpur, Gwalior, Bhopal and Rewa respectively. Apart from the Chairman, the posts of 6 member judges are sanctioned in the Industrial Court, out of which 2 are for the headquarters in Indore and 4 for the division benches. The Chairman of the Industrial Court is also appointed as the Presiding Officer of the Industrial Tribunal under Section 7-A of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. Under Section 8 of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Relations Act, 1960, 25 Labour Courts have been constituted in the State, out of which 23 Labour Courts are functioning regularly. In Labour Courts where the post of Presiding Officer is vacant, the charge is additionally assigned to the Presiding Officer working in another nearby Labour Court. There is a Registrar at the headquarters for administrative and executive work, who is also the Taxing Officer for judicial work. There are joint registrars and administrative officers in the division benches.
